Two starters return from last year’s St. Ignatius NWOSSA championship team. Versatile 6’5” forward / guard Jayme Koski and 6’2” shooting guard Jared Kreiner anchor a balanced group of returnees and freshmen. Rounding out the veteran core are two tough defenders in 6’2” Carter Harris and 6’1” Alex Buset and the shifty 6’ guard, Kuyugo Modi.
The well-rounded Falcon team has an exciting freshmen crop led by the central presence of 6’4” Jordan Maki. This year’s St. Ignatius Falcons work hard at both ends of the floor. They take pride in battling teams on the defensive end. It’s not uncommon to see multiple St. Ignatius players on the ground chasing loose balls or hitting the glass hard for a rebound. They currently allow an average of 31 points per game against in their league. The Falcons are three time defending North Western Ontario Secondary Schools champs, making it to the quarter finals of last year’s AA provincial championship. Despite the loss of several key players from last year’s team, St. Ignatius has managed to remain undefeated in their league this season.
They have a tough road ahead as their local league is much improved and several quality teams stand in the way of a fourth consecutive championship.
